The Dominican Republic only requires its visitors to agree to random COVID-19 rapid tests upon arrival in case travelers feel unwell.

Visitors must be aware of the strictly enforced curfew that goes from 6 pm to 5 am (with a grace period for movement until 9 pm.)

With around 500 new cases per day, the country is overcoming its 3rd wave of coronavirus cases.

Countries With Easy Entry Restrictions

Most countries are reopening their borders for international travel but entry restrictions vary from testing or no testing, quarantine or no quarantine, and even vaccination status. Find out which countries are open with only 1 or 2 entry requirements.

Colombia

[No test, but vaccination card]

Effective Dec. 14, all international arrivals 18 years and over must present a vaccine certificate to be allowed entry.

When passing through Colombian Immigration, travelers should be prepared to provide an original physical vaccination card or digital certificate.

After almost 2 years without entry restrictions and almost no restrictions whatsoever, Colombia has started to request everyone to present a COVID-19 Vaccine Passport to access stadiums, cultural events, bars, and restaurants from Nov. 16.

The country has been ranked as "Level 3: COVID-19 High risk of transmission" by the CDC.

The United Kingdom

As long as you are not traveling from a red-listed country, you are permitted to visit the iconic landmarks, world-class restaurants and international music festivals the United Kingdom offers all year round.

What puts the UK in the easy-to-travel-to list is that country decided to drop its rather complicated lists of amber, amber plus, green and orange countries. Nowadays, you are either green or red and most of the time, no country is considered red.

Visitors need to present proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test if they are not fully vaccinated.

They will also be required to provide UK officials with contact and travel information prior to arrival by completing the Public Health Locator Form 48 hours prior to arrival. That's all!

The UK has lifted its travel ban on Southern African nations.

Hungary

Budapest, Hungary
Budapest, Hungary

Hungary has ditched all domestic COVID-19 restrictions for locals and tourists. Although some health experts have expressed concerns about it, the administration has firmly expressed its rejection to reintroduce any mandatory COVID-19 measures.

For instance, wearing a face mask is not mandatory even in public transportation.

"[Our] services are a safe choice for everyday travel, as regularly disinfected vehicles -as several national and international studies have shown- people have a much lower risk of getting sick than in public spaces where people spend long periods of time," said the Center for Budapest Transport (BKK).

Hungary visitors only need to present a PCR test if entering the country via air. Quarantine or proof of vaccination is not required.

The government has imposed entry restrictions on visitors from Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe for the time being.

Portugal

Portugal

Portugal is open to most countries excluding visitors from Brazil, India, Nepal, and South Africa who can only visit for essential reasons.

In order to be permitted entry, this colorful and welcoming country only require visitors to bring one of the following,

  • The EU Digital Vaccination Certificate that most European citizens already have, or
  • A PCR test, taken at least 72 hours before boarding, or
  • A rapid antigen test (TRAg), taken within 48 hours of boarding

Keep in mind that all types of accommodations will also require one of the above-mentioned negative COVID-19 tests to check-in.

Portugal also offers the possibility to take a rapid test at the airport. However, we do not recommend going for this option because when visitors test positive for COVID-19 they need to undergo mandatory quarantine at their own expense.

So better safe than sorry!

The United States of America

New York
Central Park, New York

The United States reopened for tourism on November 8.

A negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours before departure and proof of vaccination is all tourists need to be permitted entry.

The best part is the U.S. accepts multiple types of tests, from (RT-PCR) to (RT-LAMP), (TMA), (NEAR), and (HDA) tests. But if it sounds too complicated, a self-test a.k.a home test is also enough!

Check the specific requirements for home tests.

The US has barred travel from multiple African nations, including Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi.

Albania

Albania used to be one of the few countries in the world that did not require a test, vaccine, or quarantine for people to visit it. Not anymore, but the good news is that entry is still easy.

Starting September 6, 2021, travelers must meet one of the three following conditions.

  • Bring a vaccine passport showing the date of full vaccination is no later than 14 days from the date of entry in Albania.
  • A negative PCR test taken within 72 hours or a rapid antigen test within 48 hours, or
  • Proof of recovery from COVID-19 in the 6 months preceding travel.

Tanzania

One negative COVID-19 test is all travelers need to be allowed to visit Tanzania and its Serengeti National Park.

The government only requires visitors to present a COVID test taken within 72 hours before arrival and to fill out an online Health Surveillance Form within 24 hours before entering the country.

Once visitors complete the form they will receive a Unique Health Code (UHC), which they must present to health officials at the airport.

No quarantine is needed!

Ukraine

Kiev, Ukraine
Kiev, Ukraine

Ukraine is not only open for tourism but also has eased its entry restrictions in recent days.

To be permitted entry, visitors can either present a negative COVID-19 test no older than 72 prior to arrival in Tanzania, or

  • A negative rapid Antigen Test for SARS-CoV-2, OR
  • A vaccine certificate that shows the bearer received the last dose of a COVID vaccine 14 days before entering Ukraine.

All WHO-approved vaccines are accepted by the Ukrainian government.

Also, health insurance is required. It can be easily purchased at https://visitukraine.today/

Ukrainian citizens, resident permit holders, diplomats accredited to Ukraine, refugees, crew members, and military personnel are exempt from all requirements.

Bulgaria

Fully vaccinated visitors who do not appear in Bulgaria's red list are welcome to enter without a COVID-19 test or quarantine.

All European countries have been added to Bulgarias' red list but  Vatican City, Spain, Malta and Sweden.

  • Asian continent include Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Oman, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, South Korea, Singapore and Brunei.

Turkey

Cappadocia, Turkey

Turkey is open to most fully vaccinated visitors without test or quarantine requirements. Arrivals need to submit a vaccine certificate showing they received the last curse of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before traveling to Turkey or that they recovered from the virus in the last six months.

However, due to concerns about the spread of Omicron variant, said benefit does not apply to everyone yet.

Starting Nov. 27, Turkey imposed travel restrictions from South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Passengers must spend 14 days in quarantine regardless of their vaccination status or recent infection with the virus. A negative PCR test will be required to end isolation in places determined by the local government.

Greece

Fully vaccinated U.S. and EU travelers can enter Greece without a PCR test or quarantine if they can produce a vaccine certificate.

Greece's COVID case trajectory is on the upward spiral again. The country has been reporting up to 800 new cases per day in the last 14 days.

Only essential travel is allowed from South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique, Eswatini, Zambia and Malawi, while travelers will need to obtain a special permit from the local Greek diplomatic mission.

Those granted a permit must undergo a PCR test 72 hours before travel and submit to a rapid antigen test upon arrival. After that, they must quarantine at the government-designated hotel for 10 days.

Montenegro

Travelers from the European Union, U.S., Canada, Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Israel, Norway, Kazakhstan, and Northern Macedonia are allowed entry to this European country without testing or quarantine.

One restriction applies. These visitors must be able to prove they have been in those territories in the last 14 days, otherwise, they will need to submit a COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination.

Sweden

Only visitors from Norway, Denmark, and Iceland are exempted from presenting a COVID-19 test or quarantine upon arrival. Sweden has also opened to other 19 nations but in order to be allowed entry, travelers must show proof of residency.

Sweden has been the only country in the world that never required citizens to wear a face mask.

Thus far, only 46.6 percent of its population has been fully vaccinated.

Croatia

This European country gives visitors 3 easy options to enter.

  • Visitors can bring a negative PCR test not older than 72 hours or a rapid antigen test not older than 48 hours. Or
  • Proof of recovery from COVID-19. Visitors who have passed COVID-19 can bring either a medical certificate or a positive PCR or rapid antigen test performed in the last 12-180 days. Or
  • A vaccine certificate. What is special about Croatia is that authorities accept "any vaccine." This means that people immunized with the Russian and the Chinese vaccines are also welcomed.

To make things even easier, passengers can upload their information and attachments to Enter Croatia web so the screening process at the airport is faster.

Panama

Visitors from all countries are welcome to visit Panama without quarantine or vaccination restrictions. To be permitted entry, travelers only need to present either a negative COVID-19 PCR test or an antigen test, which is certainly cheaper and easier to get.

Visitors can also arrive in Panama without a test and take one at the airport. This is a convenient option but it's not very recommended because in case they tested positive for COVID-19 they would need to quarantine.

Also, all visitors must complete and sign an electronic sworn affidavit prior to check-in. But that would be all.

Egypt

Tourists are allowed entry only by presenting a PCR or a serology COVID-19 test. Proof of vaccination is not required and there's no mandatory quarantine.

Long-haul travelers from Japan, China, Thailand, United States, South America, Canada, London Heathrow, Paris, and Frankfurt are permitted to bring a test certificate performed 96 hours prior to their flight departure.

People traveling to Sharm El Sheikh don't even need to arrive with a PCR test. They can take it upon arrival.

Egypt has also imposed travel bans on Southern African nations.

Also, visitors who have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine 14 days prior to the flight date can enter the country without having to present the PCR test.

Galapagos

The internationally celebrated islands reopened for tourism on July 1.

Commercial flights resumed operations on August 3. To enter the islands passengers will be requested to bring either a PCR test or proof of vaccination.

Denmark

Copenhagen, Denmark

All travelers arriving in Denmark from Doha and Dubai airports are to be required to take a Covid-19 test, the Danish Ministry of Health announced.

Denmark has also restricted travel from seven African countries: Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia and Eswatini in addition to South Africa.

The country's "COVID passport" was reintroduced on Nov. 15 to access restaurants, sports centers, or nightclubs.

Spain

Barcelona, Spain

Fully vaccinated travelers are welcome to Spain without quarantine restrictions. This includes not only EU visitors but also Americans and even some South American countries.

The Spanish Government has banned unvaccinated UK British tourists. The new regulation applies to all tourists excluding children under the age of 12 years old.

All arrivals regardless of their nationality or age must complete a Health Control Form to obtain a QR code generated through the Spain Travel Health portal. It will be needed to board aircraft and to pass health controls on arrival in Spain.

Most Spanish "Comunidades Autómas" or states now request people to bear a COVID-19 Vaccine Passport to access restaurants, bars, and similar venues.

With one of the nation's highest vaccination rates and lowest case rates, California is open to welcome visitors.

The state scrapped the color-coded tier system that restricted limited capacity for nightclubs, bars, restaurants, and other venues.

Visitors can now enjoy temperatures of around 70℉ wherever they go without most of the limiting Covid-19 restrictions.

The state's mask mandate as well as the social distancing restrictions have been lifted for vaccinated visitors, allowing most businesses to resume normal outdoor and indoor activities.

Officials in Los Angeles and the Bay Area are currently discussing lifting the rest of the Covid restrictions as transmission in their regions plummeted.

Florida, U.S.

Miami, Florida

The United States is not only listed here as a country with easy entry requirements but also it has states the size of European countries where Covid-19 restrictions virtually do not exist or are even forbidden.
